my artist statement
I make Photographic fine art. Though I do enjoy painting, sculpture and all the arts.
Photography has always allowed me to sense that notion that people understand me. I invite my viewers on a possible journey of interpretation through my personal experience with life.
I always try to achieve an optimistic vision that can evoke any feelings the viewer chooses to experience.
I chose this art medium of photography because when I am engrossed in composing any image from camera to darkroom / Photoshop, I feel full and happy inside my heart and soul.
To have a feeling of being full inside, happy and serene is a rare experience, personally I achieve a spiritual experience of my own with this medium. That is not something anyone should pass up if they find it. I wish to share my experiences with everyone possible. Life is short. Carpe diem!

in Strategic Leadership.
2020: Graduated from Yavapai College with an AAFA, Associate in Arts of Fine Art

When I began this project I had a goal of experiencing my own knowledge of the "pre-visualization" techniques originated by Ansel Adams and Minor White.
When dedicated to the masters of your chosen art field. It helps to have a full art history backround AND the full and complete understanding of the mathematics and elements and principles, and I apply those principles consciously.
I am now currently experimenting digitally the one and only of the real "keys" to understanding photography ie; "pre-visualization" is to understand light.
A facet among thousands or millions of different theories. We each represent a unique fingerprint in how we see. The future will reveal that :)

My main goal here was to achieve something of an homage to a great painter. I can relate with his tumultuous life.
As a photographer , staying fresh in all of the muse is of key importance.
Art in Achitecture
Architecture, all objects considered 3-d that serve a function.
It has been a highly overlooked topic or subject of any of my imagery. To capture the essence put forth by an artist to create a livable, workable,attractive, efficient, long-lasting 50% self- sustainable living.
There are brand new Leed Platinum Certified homes being built today to reduce our carbon footprint.
And all of this is being done in beautiful designs from the colonial days. Its worth it for our childrens future.

This is an HDR automated Adobe Photoshop composite of 7 HDR images from my iPhone 6. Documenting my discovery of these beautifully textured and colored black-eyed-susies that magically appear and disappear each fall semester around the Prescott Yavapai College Campus.

I have been studying how the light is affected from water vapors. As well on how light is affected.
Various techniques I have at my fingertips via the digital darkroom of Photoshop allows for an even closer look!

I have been blessed with a wife that likes gardening.
Her Daffodils come up each year and I document them differently with each opportunity I get no matter the light or of the time of day. Its my own personal experiment in photographing nature.

Adam Schmetterer has been a photographer since the age of 12. He first learned photography as an art form through his Mother. By age 13, he received his first camera: a 35 mm Pentax MX. He took photography throughout his high school years. In his Senior year independently took on the challenge of instructing and adding an "Experimental Photography Class" to his high schools’ curriculum, which still remains in place over 30 years later. He attended The School of Visual Arts in NYC. After which, began his internship with Sanborn, Perillo and Company, a highly experimental video production company which was funded exclusively by the National Endowment for the Arts. For the following 5 years, he worked as a Photo Editor and Photo Researcher with Mega-Books of NY Inc., a childrens’ book packager in which provided services to Simon and Schuster, Field Publications and United Features Syndicate & Charles Schultz. In 2008, he started his private photography business and remains currently the Owner and Photographer of Adam Schmetterer Photography based out of Prescott, AZ which he now calls home.

I assist regular and professional photographers find out, "its Not About The Camera". I have been enjoying the banter with my students around what makes a good composition and what doesn't. Going over the basic components for better composition . It is a feeling inside we connect with. It has been scientifically proven we are hard wired to see certain ways since we were primates. Digital technology is allowing us these discoveries each and every day:)

I was a photographer for a company that took photographs for schools, sports and day cares.
The parents would then buy or not buy the packages. But, 90% bought.
I learned alot about children and estimated at 6 years employment I have captured the images of around 3,500 children :)
